The Sheki guide: silk, shebeke and halva

Start with the palace

The first address for anyone arriving in Sheki is the Khan’s Palace — and not by accident. The nail-less shebeke windows, painted walls and plane trees of the fortress courtyard will absorb hours.

One of the finest views in the city.
A good route is not a list but a rhythm: one museum, one table, one walk.

Follow the masters

From the palace, call into a shebeke workshop: masters turn thousands of pieces of wood and glass into pattern before your eyes. Drink tea under the caravanserai vaults and continue the Silk Road merchants’ route in your imagination.

Do not leave without halva

Sheki halva is the town’s calling card: thin layers of rice flour, nuts and saffron syrup. The best comes from the old masters’ shops, still warm.

The heart of the local table.
